Georgia Branch buys an ark (article)

New Horizons focus on membership (article and photo)

GEORGIA BRANCH BUYS AN ARK

The Chatham County Union of the Georgia Branch has donated $5,000.00 to Heifer International, one of IOKDS' endorsed projects. This amount of money "buys" an Ark of animals. Also, the Virginia Branch has a fund drive to complete an ark and has raised more than $2,000. Click here to see the animals included in an "Ark".

NEW HORIZONS FOCUS ON MEMBERSHIP

New Horizons ProgramThe New Horizons Program was developed to promote enthusiasm, rededication, and growth to ensure the future of the Order. This program is held each summer at The King's Daughters and Sons' Headquarters at Chautauqua, New York... Expenses, except travel, are included in the scholarship awarded to each participant. Often the member's Branch contributes to the transportation expenses.

All members except previous participants and Life Members of Central Council are eligible to attend New Horizons. The program brings together members from many Branches who have opportunities to share information about the many good works of The King's Daughters and Sons.

Leadership is provided by the New Horizons committee members, the International officers, and committee chairmen. Workshop focuses include Order history, parliamentary procedure, membership renewal, and Order projects and missions.

The 2007 New Horizons Program will be held July 28-August 2. The focus will be Membership. The theme will be based on the Prayer of Jabez from 1Chronicles 4:10. An application form will be in the January/February issue of The Silver Cross or may be obtained from each Branch President.

CLERGY RENEWAL PROGRAM

The newest program of the International Order of The King's Daughters and Sons is the Clergy Renewal Program. Active, senior clergy are invited to apply to stay at one of the Order's properties at Chautauqua, New York, August 3-11. Board and a gate pass to the Chautauqua Institution will be provided to participants who must attend several sessions at which they will learn more about the activities of The King's Daughters and Sons. Participants must provide own transportation and meals. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience Chautauqua's religious, educational, and fine arts' programs. Spiritual renewal can be experienced at that wonderful place. Further information may be received from a member of the organization.
