Frances SellewFUN FOR ST. PATRICK'S DAY DINNER

This is a fun thing to do for St. Patrick's Day - make all your food GREEN! You can eat green salad, and drink green Koolaid or add green food coloring to your water. If your parents are fixing mashed potatoes, have them add some green food coloring. It looks really weird but it still tastes the same! Have fun with it and use your imagination.

TOP OF THE MORNING TO YOU JUNIORS!

As LUCK would have it, we have some celebrating to do. We have a NEW Junior Circle in Columbia, Tennessee with 9 new members!!! YEA!! They are called the Margaret Yarborough Junior Circle. This is very exciting news and I'm sure the other Branches are GREEN with envy!

ST. PATRICK'S DAY is observed on March 17th every year. Do you know what some of the symbols mean? Let me try to explain some of them and see if you knew this.

1. The SHAMROCK is a symbol of luck to some people. But to us, it represents the Trinity - Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. It represents three people but one God.
2. The POT OF GOLD AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW - have you ever seen it? The Rainbow as we know from the Bible, is a symbol from God that He will never again destroy the earth. But to the Irish, the Pot of Gold at the end represents treasures that each of us seek in life.
3. The color GREEN is a tribute to Ireland (land of the green hills) and also represents good luck.
4. The LEPRECHAUN is an Irish fairy about 2 feet tall. He is unfriendly to everyone and makes shoes for the people. He protects the Pot of Gold from being found. People are said to follow him but he vanishes before their eyes.
5. The CELTIC CROSS is a wonderful symbol. When Saint Patrick went back to Ireland to convert the Irish to Christianity, he combined their beliefs, both old and new. By doing so, Saint Patrick added the sun onto the Christian cross to create the Celtic Cross we see today.

I would like to leave you with this thought…………………..May the Luck of the Irish be yours today!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

NEWS FROM "THE BRANCH" NEWSLETTER - TEXAS

Cleburne Charters New Junior Circle - the Sunshine Sisters

The Sunshine Sisters Circle was chartered on October 26, 2006. Lend A Hand Circle sponsored the newest junior circle along with Hearts of Gold Circle. The Sunshine Sisters consists of 9 members who are King's Daughters' legacies. This wonderful group of 5th graders are filled with the spirit and ready to work! Their first project was taking snack donations to the Johnson County Child Advocacy Center. They received a wonderful tour of the facility by Tammy King, the director. They are donating gifts to Cleburne City Union's Goodfellows and are helping pack the Goodfellow boxes. They also filled precious Christmas stockings to be included with some of the boxes. We hope that you will attend the State Convention this spring and meet these wonderful young ladies!
