Ania Rzepka – Catholic House Intern
There have been so many new experiences that I’ve had the opportunity to take part in during my first week at Chautauqua! I attended the women in ministry group, the American Ballet, many more performances and even a Muslim prayer service (Jumu’ah). But my favorite thing from my first week here isn’t anything that I attended or witnessed. My favorite thing about this first week was making new friends. There is a program here called APYA (Abrahamic Program for Young Adults) and the coordinators of that program are people that make me feel as though we have been friends for a long time. I believe this is the epitome of Chautauqua. Meeting new faces and feeling as though you’ve known them your whole life. In this place I am unafraid to ask questions, I constantly find myself laughing, and at the end of the day I always feel loved and understood. I was terrified to come here and feel lonely for these five weeks as an intern, but I found open arms and loving smiles. There is something in the water here at Chautauqua and I cannot wait to experience three more weeks in this place.
