Susan Jamjoum and I arrived at the Courtyard Marriott Boston Logan Hotel in the late afternoon of October 4, 2019.  In the hotel we met Mary Jane Mackenzie and her cousin and Terry Pearson and her sister.  We all immediately became New Best Friends. Our travel group included forty-one travelers from 15 states plus our great tour guide and bus driver. During the Welcome Reception self-introductions gave us a chance to appreciate the great group of people we would be spending eight days with and enjoying their company.   I must say that everyone was very kind, helpful, and considerate (always on time, assistance walking and getting on and off the bus, friendly plus).

Plymouth Rock was a sight to behold.  We could almost see the Pilgrims stepping onto it from the Mayflower in 1620.  Boarding the ferry at Hyannis Port which took us to charming Nantucket, we had a bus tour of America’s most scenic little island. On Cape Cod we visited a Cranberry Bog, Eastham Windmill, a lighthouse, and Provincetown.

New Bedford offered a taste of the fishing and whaling industry and the Whaling Museum.  Newport, Rhode Island gave us a tour of The Breakers, the seventy room mansion of the Vanderbilt family.  A steam train ride and lunch at the historic Griswold Inn provided a delightful time in the lower Connecticut River Valley.

The JFK Presidential Library was a very special visit.  I definitely want to return.  All in all this was a magnificent tour presented by Country Travel Discoveries, a tour which I would take again.  Watch for a more detailed article by Susan Jamjoum in The Silver Cross, February 2020 issue, along with pictures of our good times together.

And, check for information about the upcoming 2020 Kentucky tour.  Hope you join us!
