Immortal God of wisdom and strength, we come to you today with hearts full of pain, brokenness, and concern for our nation. You told us in the Bible that if your people who are called by your name would humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, then you would heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Throughout this year, our nation has been brought to its knees over and over again. And so we pray that we will accept the humility that we have been offered. We pray that we acknowledge that we, on our own, are incapable of fixing the mess that we have made within our land. We lift our nation to you- all of the hurts, brokenness, oppression, anger, injustice, division, greed, corruption, prejudice, pride, hurt, and despair.

We know that you have called us, as a nation, to greatness beyond what we can imagine. Help us to embrace that greatness by embracing You. Give us ears to hear Your Spirit speaking to us. Give us eyes to see what You are doing around us and to join in Your work. Give us hearts to love others as You love them. Give us voices to stand up to oppression and evil in whatever forms they present themselves. Give us a vision, O Lord.

This we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. (KML)
