Recipients of Scholarships Awarded in 2017

Benson K Klanjira is 27 years old. He is attending Mount Kenya University in Nairobi. He is studying Social Work and Community Development. He wants to empower his community to improve their living standards. He plans to graduate in 2018. He is an assistant pastor, church secretary, and choir member.

 

Michael Kimani is 23 years old. He is attending the Kenya Institute of Management in Nairobi majoring in Business Management. He hopes to use his education to properly manage greenhouses. He plans to graduate in 2019. He is a Sunday School teacher at his church.

 

Robert Lethinyon is 24 years old. He is attending Kenya Institute of Management in Nyeri majoring in Business Management. He wants to become a Financial Manager. He plans to graduate in 2019. He is a youth leader at the church he attends.

 

 

Isaac O. Mankuleiyo is 40 years old. He is attending St. Paul’s University in Limuru. He is majoring in Human Resources. He plans to apply his knowledge and skills to the staff that he works with. He plans to graduate before the end of 2017.

 

Theophilus M Moturi is 22 years old. He is attending the Kenya College of Accountancy University in Kisumu and his major is Business Management. He plans to start his own business after graduating. He plans to graduate in 2018. He is a choir member, pianist and pastor’s translator at his church.

 

Jane Mumbi is 21 years old. She is attending Kenya Methodist University, Nyeri Campus and is majoring in Counselling. Her interest is to help people and children in need. She plans to graduate in 2019 and is a member of her churches choir.

 

Ruth N Ndunge is 20 years old. She is attending St. Paul’s University and is majoring in Business Management. She is a member of her church’s youth group and choir. She plans to graduate in 2020.

 

Joseph M Wairimu is 38 years old. He is attending Amani Counselling Centre and Training Institute in Nyeri. He is majoring in Counselling with a minor in Psychology. He hopes to help with counselling of children at Kids Alive houses. He preaches and conducts Bible Studies at his church.

 

Eric O Magero is 23 years old.  He is attending The Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi majoring in Business Studies.  He hopes to pursue a job in the government purchasing and transporting goods and services.  He plans to graduate in 2019.  He attends Bible Study and youth activities.

From Dominican Republic:

 

Yoanna Mota Lopez is 22 years old. She is studying Medicine and plans to graduate in 2020. She currently attends youth group at her church. Her hope is to become a doctor and help others.

 

Yira Escalante is 27 years old. Her major is Dentistry. She expects to graduate in 2019. She writes that she enjoys working for Kids Alive International to work with the kids and show them how to take care of their teeth.

 

 

 

 

Rosanny A. Hernandez is 28 years old. She is married with a 4 month old daughter. She is majoring in Psychology. She volunteers at her church teaching Sunday School and also works with Kids Alive International. She plans to graduate in the spring of 2019.

 

All 3 of these Around the World Scholarship Recipients are attending UCATECI (Universidad Catolica Tecnologica del Cibao) in La Vega, Domincan Republic.
